Poem by Emma Holmes, ’15

Inside her head, words
Smudged fingers, a mind run raw
Writing’s her disease

On sleepless nights, words
Empty coffee mugs stacked high
A leaning tower

Itching, scratching words
She’s afflicted by stories
Paragraphs her plague

Brain gone mad with words
She writes, not because she can
But because she must
