Autumn Breeze
An autumn breeze blows over
The fading summer air—
My skirts swirl in the breaths
Of a wind without a care
School-bells loudly calling
The children back inside—
Chipmunks scurry underground—
Returning home to hide
As the leaves start falling—
Whisp’ring to the ground—
Warm at home in silence
Is where I can be found
Till icy snow has melted—
And Proserpine appears—
I’ll wrap my shawl around me
As autumn ever nears.
