People are cruel. If you live on planet Earth, you’d know that people are cruel. You’d know that people hate anybody who is different. You’d know that people are hypocrites. Sometimes, it feels like something built in our systems. Like that feeling of warmth and giddiness you feel in your chest isn’t meant to be there all the time. It’s not meant to be there at all. It’s supposed to be locked away in a secret compartment in your heart, and when you open the cage, you feel kindness. You feel generosity, genuine compassion and love. And you cherish that feeling and lock it away for safekeeping. So when you have another day of being ridiculed for a sick prank or pushed around for a stupid joke, it’ll all be worth it in the end. Because then you can worship that one feeling of kindness you experienced.

But why can’t you feel that almost all the time, from everybody around you? Because everybody is different. You can’t make a friend out of everybody. But you’ll still wish you could feel the warmth of a smile and a wave blow over to you, into your heart. So maybe, one day, it could be full. You wouldn’t have to go back to a moment from years ago. It would be right there, and you’d be happy all the time.

But you wonder if everybody is different, why is that so bad? Why do people get brutally bullied and harassed by the same people who preach ‘mental health matters?’ Why is everybody beautiful, but only if everybody fits the strict beauty standards? Why are we supposed to laugh with people, but we laugh at people? Why are you told to be yourself, but you aren’t told that it really means ‘be like everybody else?’ Why is everybody so to mean to each other?

Think about the things you say to other people, because they are other people.
